  Ray mond L.Haywood

Ray mond L.Haywood creates pieces that reflect his urban upbringing - a densely layered juxtaposition of diverse images that evoke passion and intensity. His multi-layered paintings are uniquely created acrylic works on paper and canvas that are imbued with immediacy, honesty and boldness. He designs symbols, creates stencils, then layers color and stencils into rich, moody, vibrant pieces. His unique compositions and raucous use of form capture the spontaneity of spirit.

Ray mond L. Haywood earned his BFA from UC San Diego and his MFA from San Francisco State in 2003. In 2002 he was awarded the Leo D. Stillwell Graduate Fellowship. This led to being featured in the San Francisco Arts Commision Graduate Exposition. He was also honored as the Jan Heart Schuyears Featured Artist in the 2005 Art of LIving Black. He shows locally and nationally.
